I have a hard time putting into words just how much of a difference this laptop has made in my daily life since getting it. As I was going through some hardware analysis and bench tests, I had to say that if you're looking for a general purpose Windows 11 laptop, this Acer Aspire Go 15 AG15-42P is really very good.

In fact, nowadays, I'd recommend always having at least the 16GB RAM as running any general apps will easily eat up to 7 to 9GB under general use. Having that much RAM means it's not slowed down for anything, which has been a huge game-changer in my workflow. It's not a gaming machine, so I didn't have to worry about it slowing down when playing games like Minecraft.

Setting up this laptop was pretty straightforward - just plug in the power supply, press the power button, and guide you through the setup process, and you'll be good to go. The only thing that stood out to me was having to login to Microsoft to set it all up, but once I got going, everything worked smoothly.

I've been running many apps at the same time - internet explorer, file explorer, outlook emails, office apps, all on the screen at once - and this laptop has not shown any sign of slowing down. It will also play Minecraft quite smoothly too! Again, it's not a gaming machine with a dedicated graphics processor, but it does okay with some games like Minecraft.

The physical aspects that I've noticed are pretty interesting - when you open the lid, the screen/lid actually becomes two feet along the rear edge, thanks to rubber feet on it. This allows airflow under it while it's on the desk, which is great for keeping things cool. The cooling system can draw in air through the vents underneath, but I've noticed that some of the warm air blows out onto the bottom of the screen instead.

One thing that's always caught my eye - the track mouse pad - works just like any other, with no remarkable differences. However, the keyboard is a joy to type on! It's not illuminated, but I've found that it's smooth and responsive, making typing fast and quiet while you're at it. The 512GB storage drive will last for years under general use, so I don't have to worry about running out of space.

I think this laptop is spot on as a replacement for an ageing non-compatible Windows 10 machine like mine. It boots fast, does stuff fast, and runs loads of stuff at once - everything from Microsoft Office to Minecraft! I've been very happy with it so far, and I've already bought two of the same models in recent times, which has been a great way to upgrade my old laptop.
